Top tips to keep your home safe after a New Year’s Eve party
This tumultuous year is about to end. With its end, 2021 brings a new ray of hope that things will get better and conditions of the pandemic-ridden world will improve significantly. That’s why it is hard to resist sending this year away as well as starting the new one on a good note.
Owing to the heightened lockdown-induced need for socialization, we understand that there will be gatherings and house parties on this New Year’s Eve. However, safety cannot be ignored. Sanitization before and after any gathering at home is now a must. That’s why we decided to bring you top tips to keep your home safe for your loved ones after a new year party.
1. Wipe as many surfaces as you can
Keep infectious germs away by heading into cleaning mode right after the party is over. Wear gloves, a mask and use a powerful disinfectant that kills germs to wipe surfaces. While doing so, make sure to keep your windows open to get rid of the smell of the cleaning products. Make sure to clean the following surfaces with care:
- Sink and bathroom faucets
- Kitchen counters
- Toilet seat and handles
- Remote controls and game controls
- Window and door handles
- Table surfaces
- Light switches
2. Use dish soap with anti-germ agents in the kitchen
People who visit your home will use your utensils. Therefore, it is crucial to clean them with soap or a utensil cleaning liquid that is effective against germs. This will make sure no infection is caused by infected dishes, bowls or spoons.
3. Sanitize every nook and cranny
If you happen to have a sanitizer that can be sprayed or if you can get one that can be used on surfaces, then make the most of them. Spray them after cleaning surfaces like tabletops, bathroom sinks and other planes easily touched by multiple people mentioned above.
4. Keep washing your hands
Although you may believe that you’re safe from coronavirus while cleaning, make sure you pause in between to wash your hands for 20 seconds. Follow this at regular intervals to keep your contact with coronavirus-causing viruses at bay.
Most importantly, make sure people who enter your home before or after the new year, wash their hands, wear a mask and avoid touching as many surfaces as they can.
Also, if you happen to have children or senior people at home avoid any partying altogether. That’s because children, especially those below the age of 5, along with the elderly have a higher risk of catching the virus than any other age group. For the safety of your household avoid partying in your house or going outside for one if you have people belonging to said age groups.
Although, if you are inclined to step out or given in to peer pressure, make sure to take all necessary precautions to keep coronavirus at bay. If possible, stay home, stay safe. Welcome the new year on a safe note.
