All about the different green building certifications in India
The term ‘Green Buildings‘ has been dominating the limelight in the media for the past several years. Some people may have seen the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)- Green Business Centre building in Hyderabad, which is one of India’s greenhouses.
Green Buildings can be defined as systems that ensure the green use of natural resources such as building materials, water, strength, and other sources with the least amount of non-degradable waste. Sensors in green cooling systems, for example, can detect the warmth emitted by the human body and alter the ambient temperature mechanically, saving energy. It also relates to the structures of lighting fixtures. Greenhouses have improved lighting fixtures that turn off automatically when no one is present within the rooms.
Simple technology, such as an air-based fully waterless flushing system in bathrooms, the use of power-green LEDs and CFLs instead of traditional incandescent bulbs, modern-era home equipment that uses less energy, and a number of other possibilities, all contribute to making homes more environmentally friendly and differentiating them from traditional ones. With the pandemic in India and the subsequent lockdowns and regulations, homeownership is now inextricably linked to the safety, protection, and well-being of our families and loved ones.As one of life’s major investments, we all tend to carefully scrutinize the deeper ‘worth’ of a home in terms of cost, location, functions and facilities, quality of life, and so on. However, routine maintenance costs are an important but often overlooked factor. Green homes that achieve inexperienced house certification have significantly lower operational costs.
Here’s a quick rundown of India’s most well-known green building certification organizations.
- IGBC Certification Stages : The IGBC certification stages include ‘Certified,’ ‘Silver,’ ‘Gold,’ ‘Platinum,’ and ‘Super Platinum. ‘IGBC was founded in 2001 as part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). IGBC is a member of the World Green Building Council and one of India’s most well-known green building rating structures. The IGBC offers 27 different certifications.
- GRIHA : In 2007, the Government of India launched a nationwide score gadget for inexperienced houses, which became followed by GRIHA. This score device accurately assesses a structure’s total environmental performance during its whole life cycle.
- LEED : LEED is a certification program that identifies and classifies “inexperienced dwellings,” as well as provides a plan for improving them. Another accreditation, the International Finance Corporation’s ‘EDGE,’ presents the business case for developing inexperienced and unlocking financial investment. Projects are ‘pre-licensed’ to ensure that they adhere to the plan and layout objective. Final certification is usually obtained after the project’s crowning splendor and deployment.
