Building plans in Chennai to get nod online within 60 days

Building permit approvals will now be granted within 60 days using an internet single window system. The Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) and the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) have been directed to provide the ‘Go Live’ internet site by the Tamil Nadu housing and concrete improvement branch.

Even though most of the system is now online, the demand for no-objection certificates (NOCs) from several departments, postpone in-webpage inspections by officials, and follow-up at the approval system remain offline, making the method tedious and time-consuming.

In the directive, HUDD secretary Hitesh Kumar S Makwana stated that DTCP should advise all local planning governments to begin trials for ‘Go Live’ by April 1, 2022, and that CMDA and DTCP should implement them immediately and send monthly progress reports to the government.

The system began in February 2022, when the leader secretary directed the departments to install the net portal and difficulty pointers in preparation for the purchase of NOCs. The technology was also approved by Chief Minister M K Stalin in the same month, and the CMDA launched a pilot system for their website and began importing papers. Anshul Mishra, CMDA member-secretary, claimed that they needed to repair some insects and that the website will be fully functional and available in a few weeks.

“This single window gadget would greatly boost this zone by putting different sorts of enterprises under one portal and making it a time-sure method,” Ravichandran, standard supervisor of TVS Emerald, told TOI. He praised the idea, saying it will save time and effort because it would normally take 3 to 6 months.

Previously, contractors had to coordinate with officers from a variety of departments, including fire and rescue, police, the Airport Authority of India, the Indian Airforce, CMRL, the public works branch, Indian railways, the countrywide huge authority, the Archaeological Survey of India, CRZ clearance, and the branch of the environment, among others.
