All About Purvanchal Expressway

The infrastructure project, which is unquestionably one of the largest completed by the Uttar Pradesh government and is expected to cost Rs 22,496 crore, has been hailed as the “provider of improvement” for the poor Purvanchal region.

The Lucknow-Sultanpur Street in the Lucknow district serves as the starting point of the freeway, which extends to Haidaria village on National Highway 31 in the Ghazipur area. Currently a six-lane wide dual highway, it could be widened to eight lanes shortly.

The 341-kilometer motorway will cut the trip from Lucknow to Buxar in Bihar travel time from seven hours to just under four. The trip from Lucknow to Ghazipur might take just three and a half hours once it is officially accessible to the public. It creates a direct connection between the NCR and eastern Uttar Pradesh up to the Bihar border.

While the Lucknow-Agra Expressway extends as far as the national capital, the Yamuna Expressway connects Noida to Agra. About 18 km from the UP-Bihar border, the Purvanchal Expressway will come to an end. According to a statement issued by the government, the Purvanchal Expressway, which is expected to be built at a cost of around Rs 22,500 crore, will help the economically underdeveloped areas of Uttar Pradesh, particularly the districts of Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau, and Ghazipur.

The dual carriageway runs through the districts of Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau, and Ghazipur has 18 flyovers, seven railway over bridges, seven long bridges, 104 minor bridges, thirteen interchanges, and 271 underpasses.

The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority has been permitted to build commercial hubs alongside the dual carriageway, and the government has advanced land banks alongside the motorway. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has said that the Purvanchal Expressway may serve as the backbone of the country’s Asian region’s economic structure. The spine of Eastern UP will turn out to be this motorway. “A three and a half mile long stretch at Sultanpur has been developed as an airfield for emergency aircraft landing, so its inauguration could be in a magnificent manner, followed by an air show,” CM Yogi Adityanath said.
