All About Deoghar Airport

The Deoghar airport in Jharkhand was opened by the prime minister on Tuesday. With direct access to Baba Baidyanath Dham, a renowned spiritual website online, this airport, the second in the mineral-rich nation after Ranchi Airport, is intended to boost spiritual tourism. The Airports Authority of India (AAI), in association with the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Jharkhand government, expanded the Deoghar airport over more than four years and more than Rs 400 crore.

On May 25, 2018, Prime Minister Modi lay the foundation stone for this airport. The airport, which occupies 653.75 acres of land and was built on a site measuring 4,000 square meters, has a 2,500-meter-long runway that can even accommodate the landing and takeoff of Airbus 320-class aircraft.

A maximum load of 200 flyers per hour may be handled by the power with up to six check-in counters and arrival belts. The brand-new airport’s interiors were created in a way that showcases local tribal arts, handicrafts, and regional history.

The airport will benefit residents of northern West Bengal and south-eastern Bihar and may create jobs in the local tourism industry. It is located in the northeast of the nation, a six-hour drive from Ranchi, the nation’s capital. Baba Baidyanath Dham, also known as the Jyotirlinga temple and located more than 9 kilometers from the airport, is one of the holiest places for Hindus since it is regarded as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Each year during the month of Shravan, thousands of devotees visit the Dham.

A second spiritual website online, Basukinath, is located 50 kilometers from the airport and features temples dedicated to Shiv and Parvati. Hotel Mahadev Palace, Satsang Ashram, Naulakha Mandir, and Nandan Pahar are among the various tourist destinations. The Central government, country governments, and other governments were vying to connect eminent websites with all three — roads, railroads, and airports — to promote and develop spiritual tourism. One such step is the construction of the Deobar airport.
