All you need to know the Delhi Metro Pink Line Route
The Pink Line runs about 59 kilometers from Majlis Park in northwest Delhi to Shiv Vihar in northeast Delhi, making it the Delhi Metro’s longest line.
It also includes the country’s smallest metro station, Ashram, and the Delhi Metro’s highest point, Dhaula Kuan. The Pink Line comprises 26 elevated and 12 underground stops, with Dhaula Kuan reaching a height of 23.6 meters, equivalent to a seven-story skyscraper. The Pink Line, often known as the ‘Ring Corridor,’ would be the Delhi Metro’s longest corridor, forming a ring with interchange facilities for all existing routes. The COVID-19 has caused delays in the building of the three priority corridors of Delhi Metro Phase IV, namely Inderlok – Indraprastha, Rithala – Bawana, and Lajpat Nagar – Saket. The Maujpur-Majlis Park corridor, as well as other Phase IV routes such as Janakpuri West – RK Ashram and Aerocity – Tughlaqabad, are now under construction. The portion between Maujpur and Majlis Park is likely to be finished earliest.
Construction Timeline
From March to December 2018, the Delhi Metro Pink Line was opened in four sections. Due to land acquisition challenges in specific points, the original completion goal of December 2016 was missed, and the deadline was extended back to April 2018. The Pink Line was then developed in stages, culminating in the opening of the Lajpat Nagar-Mayur Vihar Pocket I section in December 2018.Following the public opening of the 17.8-kilometer Shiv Vihar-Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake segment of the Pink Line on October 31, 2018, Delhi joined a limited group of global cities, including London and Shanghai, that have an operating metro network of over 300 kilometers. The Delhi Metro network has grown to about 327 kilometers with 236 stations with the opening of the newest segment in December 2018. The Pink Line corridor, which opened on December 31, 2018, connects Lajpat Nagar to Mayur Vihar Pocket I and has five stations: Vinoba Puri, Ashram, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Mayur Vihar Phase-I, and Mayur Vihar Pocket I.
Latest News The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the government of India agreed on development loans totaling Rs 16,186 crores for the Delhi Metro Pink Line under Delhi Metro Phase IV and three other important metro projects, giving the Delhi Metro Pink Line a boost.
