Bangalore’s Satellite Ring Road will be completed by 2025.
The Karnataka government started Satellite Ring Road Bangalore to improve the road network and manage growth in the Bangalore Metropolitan Region (BMR) (SRRB). This project attempts to separate urban and regional traffic in the BMR and offer commuters with the sensation of decreased traffic congestion on Bangalore’s major and periphery highways.
The Karnataka government proclaimed the Satellite Ring Road Bangalore (SRRB) under Section 4 A (1) of the Karnataka Town & Country Planning Act of 1961. The idea aims to provide a sigh of relief to city dwellers who are accustomed to enormous traffic bottlenecks. Find the information of the route, the timeframe of the project, and the present state of this project in Bangalore.
Bangalore Satellite Ring Road: Route
The Greenfield expressway’s architectural idea revolved around a smart bypass transit service that will connect semi-urban areas and villages around the metropolis. This road is part of Bharatmala Pariyojna Lot-3.
The building will be carried out in three parallel phases. This includes the building and alignment of NH-948A. The current NH-648 (formerly NH-207) will be reconfigured with this project to improve commuter transportation.
From 95.525 km to 138.00 km, the route will travel through the eco-sensitive zone of the Bannerghatta National Park (BNP). This layout has an elevated level that extends up to 8 kilometres and has a RoW of 28.5 metres.
Bangalore Satellite Ring Road: Timeline and Current Status
The current outer ring road is heavily used, and the average density more than doubles at the key intersections of KR Puram, Hebbal, and Goranguntepalya. Consequently, this road development project will be a lifeline for Bangalore.
The Hoskote Road and Dobbaspet-Doddaballapur parts of the project are now under construction. Notably, over 20 percent of the work has been done. The bidding for the Hoskote-Tamil Nadu border stretch, on the other hand, will begin in March 2023. The project is projected to be over by 2025.
