CREDAI President Announces Vaccination Drive for 2.5 Cr Construction Workers
Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) on Tuesday afternoon announced a free COVID-19 vaccination drive for its 2.5 crore construction workers at sites across India.
The developer’s body, CREDAI, announced HV Patodia as its new president on Tuesday afternoon, who is also the managing director of Kolkata-based real-estate firm Unimark. The announcement came right before the tenure ending of the current president, Satish Magar, on Wednesday, who will be moving up to the position of the Chairman, CREDAI National.
CREDAI is an apex private real estate developer’s body having 13,000+ developer members in over 21 states comprising 217 cities and towns. It recently named Harsh Vardhan Patodia as the new National President, who announced this drive in his maiden address on Tuesday afternoon. The team for the financial year 2021-23 of CREDAI National now comprises HV Patodia as the new President, Satish Magar – Chairman, Boman Irani – President Elect as the main body, and Pankaj Goel – Secretary and Deepak Goradia – Treasurer among others.
The construction industry is considered the second largest employer in the country, right after the agriculture sector. Through this vaccination drive, CREDAI aims to accelerate the government’s mission of reaching the needy population of the country, further helping curb the spread of COVID-19. The vaccination will be given to all the construction workers at developer member sites adhering to the protocols approved by the Indian government, he said.
India is seeing a second-wave of COVID-19 with an everyday rise in the number of cases. His announcement has come at a time when the workers at construction sites needed the most help as they form the backbone of the building construction sector.
While the announcement brought a wave of relief for 2.5 crore construction workers at all its developer member sites, the details of its time frame and logistics are still unknown. Also, it is unclear whether the organisation will directly bear the cost and how.
Steering Towards A Focussed Direction of Growth
In his maiden speech, he also addressed the current challenges faced by the real estate sector and that their team will focus on reviving the sector with stimulus to boost the business environment. He further committed to skill development, labour welfare, and green building initiatives.
Embracing his new role as the new national president, HV Patodia and his team will be focusing on driving the change to revive the real-estate sector along with focussed development towards the interest of housing and sustainable habits in the post-COVID world. He also announced the setting up of CREDAI incubation centers to support start-ups, which includes small and medium size real-estate developers working in the realty domain.
Apart from this, in an effort to pace CREDAI’s growth and advancement, he also announced the setting up of a research and analytics center to facilitate the availability of real-time data for future growth and strategies.
