Hollongi Airport: Arunachal Pradesh’s Pathway to Progress in Aviation!
Itanagar Airport is the first greenfield airport of Arunachal Pradesh. It was inaugurated on November 19, 2022, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The airport is located at Hollongi, 14 km from Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. It is a civil enclave airport with a 2,300 m runway. The airport is capable of handling ATR 72 and A320 type of aircraft.
The airport is expected to boost tourism and economic activity in Arunachal Pradesh. It will also provide connectivity to the state with other parts of India.
The airport is named after Donyi Polo, the sun and moon deities of the Adi tribe, the largest tribe in Arunachal Pradesh. The airport’s logo features a stylized image of Donyi Polo with the words “Itanagar Airport” in Hindi and English.
The airport is operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The AAI has plans to expand the airport in the future to handle larger aircraft.
