India’s road infrastructure will be like America’s before Dec 2024
Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, indicated during a Lok Sabha consultation that India’s street infrastructure might be comparable to America’s highways by December 2024. The government is working on several road projects that might help to shorten travel times to major cities.
In addition, it may take four hours to go from Delhi to Amritsar, and it may take 12 hours to travel from Delhi to Mumbai. He also claims that they are working on a roadway to connect Chennai and Bangalore. The experience may last only a few hours. He also mentioned a few of the other street projects that the authorities are currently working on.
In November 2021, he expressed a similar sentiment. However, at that time, he began talking about Jammu and Kashmir’s street infrastructure. Within the next three years, he claims, the street infrastructure can be renovated to meet the needs of western Europe.
This was remarked by Nitin Gadkari while laying the foundation stone for 25 national dual highway projects planned for Jammu and Kashmir. The total budget for these projects is Rs 11,721 crore, which is sufficient to build 259 kilometers of road.
Last year, in response to a query on toll charges, the Union Minister remarked that people may be willing to pay for good roads and infrastructure. He also believes that road tolls will never be eliminated. “If you need to use an air-conditioned auditorium, you must pay for it,” he said. Otherwise, you might even plan a wedding around a discipline.”
“The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway would reduce travel time to twelve hours,” he continued. It takes a truck 48 hours to go from Delhi to Mumbai. However, on the Expressway, it will take at least 18 hours. As a result, a truck may be able to take on more journeys, which might mean more business.”
