Kolhapur Airport’s Modern Terminal: A Gateway to Progress
The construction and development activities for the new terminal building at Kolhapur Airport, managed by the Airports Authority of India, are nearing completion. This extensive Rs 255 crore project encompasses runway expansion, the establishment of a new apron, the construction of a 3900-square-meter terminal building, and other associated works.
The upcoming terminal at Kolhapur Airport is poised to offer uninterrupted services to 500 passengers per hour during peak times, elevating the state’s air connectivity to unprecedented levels. Notably, this airport is part of the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s regional connectivity scheme, UDAN.
Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, has commended the design and architecture of the new terminal at Kolhapur Airport, set to be inaugurated soon. Spanning 4000 square meters, the terminal is designed to accommodate nearly 300 passengers during peak hours. Its front façade features large archways inspired by arches commonly found in heritage structures like the Maharaja Palace, Bhavani Mandap, and Panhala Fort in Kolhapur city.
