PM Launches Modi Awaas Gharkul Yojana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the Modi Awaas Gharkul Yojana targeted at beneficiaries from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Maharashtra. This initiative aims to construct around 10 lakh houses over a period from the financial year 2023-24 to 2025-26. An initial disbursement of Rs 375 crore will be made to 2.5 lakh beneficiaries under this scheme.

In the 2023-2024 budget session, the Maharashtra government announced the commencement of the Modi Awas Gharkul Yojana. The project’s objective is to provide housing for OBC individuals in the state over three years, prioritizing those who couldn’t secure housing through the Awas Plus scheme.

Financial Assistance and Subsidy Details

Under the Modi Awaas Gharkul Yojana, eligible beneficiaries will be granted a subsidy of Rs 1.20 lakh. This subsidy aims to aid in the construction of new houses or the transformation of existing kaccha (temporary) houses into pacca (permanent) structures. To qualify, beneficiaries must own at least 269 square feet of land. The disbursal of funds will be linked to the progress of the construction, directly credited to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
