Property agents in India want a single licence to operate.

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) India, a real estate association representing over 50,000 property brokers across the nation, has requested the federal government to provide a single licence allowing agents to function all across the country regardless of state.

People familiar with the development said that the Central Advisory Council, established under the regulations of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, and chaired by the ministry of housing and urban affairs, has sent letters to all states in the context of ‘One nation, one licence’ for real estate agents. They stated that the states have yet to adopt or hammer out the mechanisms for the same.

If enacted, it will allow realtors and brokers to conduct business across all states effortlessly.
