Pune will test a new land digital identification program

Pune has been chosen as the pilot city for the Unique Land Parcel Identification Number (ULPIN) project, which would provide IT-based complete data control.

The 14-digit Unique Land-Plot Identification Number, sometimes known as “Aadhaar for land,” aims to identify each surveyed parcel of land and prevent any land-related fraud.

In her Budget statement on Tuesday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman mentioned ULPIN and urged all states to implement the system. The venture’s pilots were conducted in selected areas across ten states, including Maharashtra. Haryana, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Sikkim, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka are the distinct states.

N K Sudhanshu, the Maharashtra agreement commissioner, told TOI that a pilot experiment for the Pune area had been set up and that it could be tested in less than a month.

“For Maharashtra, Pune was chosen as the pilot project, and specific numbers were assigned to land parcels throughout the district. We’ve just finished presenting those numbers. We wish to double-check the figures and integrate them with information from sales and banking institutions. He remarked, “We must be capable of doing it after April.”

All land parcels in the Pune district have been designated and numbered according to their range and longitude coordinates. A plot can be owned by a range, except for its length and longitudinal and latitudinal information up to the taluka degree and beyond.

“The numbers will be linked to several agencies in order to reduce land fraud,” a reliable source informed of the development. The process entails creating a fully unique pin range that may be combined with sales and financial institution information, as well as Aadhaar numbers. According to the law, the approach might be optional.
