Real Estate Developers Step Forward in Aiding Medical Infrastructure Setup
Amidst the rising second wave of COVID-19 that has put India in one of the worst healthcare crises, Real Estate developers extend their support in setting up medical infrastructure.
The announcement came from the real-estate developer’s body CREDAI for helping local authorities in lieu of the deadly second wave of COVID-19. Earlier this year, CREDAI had also announced a COVID-19 vaccine drive for its construction workers at various developer member sites.
In addition to announcing a free COVID-19 vaccine drive, enhancing the safety of its construction workers, CREDAI MCHI has also converted a few select commercial properties into COVID treatment centers in Mumbai.
Announcing this initiative during such needy times, Deepak Goradia – President CREDAI MCHI – said that the second wave of COVID-19 has been severe that has put excessive pressure on Mumbai’s medical infrastructure. Comprehending the situation’s gravity, leading MCHI developers have joined hands with BMC and are contributing to the government’s cause and measures in fighting the pandemic.
Members of the real-estate developer’s body have also offered space and infrastructure for over 310 beds, and the body president expects more developers to join the cause.
Real-estate developers like Rustomjee, Shree Naman, and Ajmera Groups have also offered additional infrastructure to support the overburdened health infrastructure that needs extra floor space for setting up COVID centers.
While Rustomjee Group has extended support with a 150-bed facility at its Rustomjee International School in Dahisar suburbs of Mumbai, Ajmera group has set up a 40-bed facility at its Times Square Complex in Andheri suburbs. Shree Naman Group also has extended support with its 120-bed facility at Nehru Science Centre in Worli.
Commenting on the development, CREDAI National President Harsh Patodia said that during the first wave of COVID-19, they had carried out CSR initiatives worth Rs 150 crores that included COVID hospitals, medicines, and food to migrant workers. This time, CREDAI has multiple CSR initiatives, especially in Maharashtra, where COVID-19 cases have remained high. Apart from this, CREDAI members from Delhi, Karnataka, and Gujarat are also in contact with their respective local authorities to plan similar activities.
Extending Support In Times of Crisis
Last month, the real-estate developer’s body had announced a free COVID-19 vaccine drive for its construction workers at various member sites to help Fastrack the government’s cause of vaccinating eligible individuals. This initiative covers more than one crore construction worker who is exposed to the risk of contracting the virus.
The extent of loss of human lives has been greater in this second wave, and CREDAI members have offered space at multiple locations enabling a safe and protected environment for treating COVID-19 patients.
Other real estate entities like DLF, Brookfield properties, Blackstone-backed Mindspace Business Parks, and Embassy Office Parks have also offered assistance to combat the deadly second wave of COVID-19.
