The NMC has offered 10% rebate for paying property taxes before 30th June
The NMC or Nagpur Municipal Corporation has offered a 10% rebate for paying property tax to those who clear the dues before June 30th. This is done so that more citizens pay their property tax on time.
On 31st May at the general body meeting, the NMC (Nagpur Municipal Corporation) took the decision of the property tax rebate. The real estate owners who have paid the tax before the general body decision will also be benefitted from this act as their excess money will be either adjusted in the next year’s tax bill or will be refunded.
In the first two months of the current financial year (2021-2022), the NMC’s revenue from all the property tax collection was sufficient. The NMC has received Rs. 19.5 crore against Rs. 9.22 crore property tax revenue generated in the last financial year (2020-2021). This is almost a 112% increase as compared to last year. Around 38000 real estate owners have paid their property tax.
The NMC has not yet implemented the standing committee’s budget. But, within a couple of days, the civic chief of NMC will implement the budget. According to reports, the delay was due to a clerical mistake. The ruling BJP CM has approached the former CM, Devendra Fadnavis in order to get back Rs. 58 crore which was deducted from the GST grant of the NMC for the month of April.
According to the revised GST grant of this financial year, the NMC must get Rs. 108 crore every month. But, in the month of April, they had received only Rs. 50 crore, while in the month of May and June, they received Rs. 108 crore.
