Work on completing new Master Plans 2031 for several towns in Uttar Pradesh has resumed. While the Chief Minister has approved the Ayodhya Master Plan, Kanpur, Azamgarh, and Hapur may soon receive formal approvals for their master plans. Once approved, these plans will spell out a detailed development strategy for urban land use.

Ayodhya’s temple city has received final clearance for the revised Master Plan 2031, which defines growth plans for the following ten years. The plan, which was authorised by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, would affect 12 lakh inhabitants in the metropolis, which spans 133.67 kilometres. The most recent master plan for Ayodhya was completed in 1983.
Before submitting it to the CM, the urban planning and housing agency addressed over 1,084 citizen concerns and introduced the common construction code. The Master Plan 2031 for Orai in Jalauan has also been authorised by the CM.
Because the city attracts approximately 2 million tourists each year, the master plan includes a provision to enhance the number of rooms to accommodate national and international visitors.

Following Orai and Ayodhya, additional projects in the works include Hapur, Kanpur, and Azamgarh. The blueprints for these communities are complete and need the final approval of the State authorities. For the zonal growth of these cities, special emphasis is being placed on water supply, health, and public transit. Aside from that, about 59 cities have been designated under Master Plan 2031, which will be managed by a GIS-based (Geographical information System), as the government has planned for AMRUT cities.
The Moradabad Development Authority has approved the Master Plan 2031 for the development of Moradabad. The idea has been on hold for three years, but it will finally be implemented with minimal tweaks. It is likely to be submitted for approvals shortly. According to senior housing department officials, 38 additional master plans might be submitted for final approval this month.
These new master plans will provide better transparency on land use, zoning rules, and potential direction of areas inside these cities. It will also allow work to be done to alleviate traffic congestion at important junctions. A planned and progressive expansion will help boost real estate markets in these locations.
